We start the new year with great optimism on the scale up of AA Framework as a key component of India’s Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI). India’s Chief Economic Advisor, Shri Anantha Nageswaran, while presenting the Economic survey which has a special mention of the AA Framework, said that a strong Digital Public Infrastructure can add up to 60-100 bps to the GDP growth rate. With India hosting the G20 presidency this year, it is the right time to showcase India’s leadership in DPIs to the global community. Sahamati is honoured to be the official knowledge partner to the Ministry of Finance for G20, with Siddharth Shetty being a part of the official delegates team of India on Digital Public Infrastructure.
In terms of the action of the ground, more than 275 financial institutions are at different stages of AA adoption. We welcome two new AAs who received an operational licence from RBI: Phonepe AA Services and NSDL E-Governance AA (Protean SurakshAA). One more AA, OMS Fintech Account AA Account Aggregator Pvt Ltd received in-principle approval from RBI. With that we have 9 operational AAs and 9 in-principal approved AAs in the ecosystem, deepening our network to reach out to more citizens. We have also witnessed a healthy growth as highlighted in the numbers as on 8th Feb 2023. Successful data shares crossed 4 million, with incremental monthly consents at 0.5 million and addition of new 28 FIUs taking the total to 142 FIUs and addition of FIPs taking the total to 31 FIPs. 20 FIUs used Sahamati’s Support Portal logging more than 830 issues in January’ 23.
As we move forward, we will see more organisations from IRDAI, SEBI and PFRDA joining the ecosystem with sustained policy support and industry acceptance of the long lasting benefits of the AA Framework. Our focus this year will be to work with the Ecosystem to ensure an orderly growth with an acceptance of common code of conducts, SLAs and guidelines for the community.
