Presentation and Fireside Chat on SahamatiNet

19 Nov 2024

The evolution of India’s Account Aggregator (AA) ecosystem reached a pivotal moment with the unveiling of SahamatiNet, a technological leap designed to address some of the most persistent challenges in the ecosystem. The session offered a window into how SahamatiNet promises to redefine the ecosystem’s operational backbone, blending innovation with collaboration to create a seamless and inclusive data-sharing network.

In his presentation, Mr Ganesh Jayadevan, Head of Products and Engineering Operations at Sahamati, articulated the bold vision behind SahamatiNet. At its heart, SahamatiNet is a suite of platforms, products, and protocols that aims to dismantle the silos within the AA ecosystem, making financial data flow more intuitive and secure. SahamatiNet builds upon the existing infrastructure, such as the central registry for streamlined entity registration, an authentication token service ensuring airtight security, and an encryption library safeguarding every data exchange.

The introduction of the Sahamati Router emphasised the commitment to solving real-world bottlenecks through improved interoperability, network observability, and tackling misreporting head-on. Yet, the vision doesn’t stop at operational enhancements. SahamatiNet aims to democratise onboarding for ecosystem participants with an upcoming self-onboarding portal, making engagement with the ecosystem as frictionless as possible.

The subsequent fireside chat deepened the exploration, shifting the focus from features to impact. Moderated by Mr Siddharth Shetty, Sahamati’s CTO, and featuring Mr Rajat Deshpande, Co-Founder and CEO of Finbox, the discussion dove into SahamatiNet’s potential to transform ecosystem relationships. Key to this transformation is the idea of interoperability—not just as a buzzword but as a practical reality that orchestrates Financial Information Providers (FIPs) and Financial Information Users (FIUs) into a cohesive network.

The conversation highlighted the need for Service Level Agreements (SLAs) to drive accountability and operational reliability. A membership agreement tied to SLAs would monitor performance metrics, ensuring transparency across the board. The discussion delved into SahamatiNet’s open-source nature as a game-changer that paves the way for sector-wide adoption and collaborative innovation, making it a true digital public good.

SahamatiNet doesn’t just aim to solve today’s challenges; it is a blueprint for a future where financial data-sharing is user-centric, seamless, secure, and universally accessible.
