Official Statement on the Account Aggregator Consent Mechanism

We appreciate and warmly welcome the remarks by Shri Ashwini Kumar Tewari, Managing Director, State Bank of India, on the Account Aggregator (AA) consent mechanism. As one of the most active institutions in the AA ecosystem, SBI’s leadership and experience continue to play an important role in strengthening India’s consent-based data-sharing framework.

The Account Aggregator framework marks a significant shift in how individuals control and share their financial data. Built on a consent-first and customer-centric foundation aligned with RBI’s regulatory vision and compliant with the DPDP Act 2023, it is designed to enhance trust, transparency, and user empowerment across the financial ecosystem.

Through Sahamati’s participatory governance model, anchored in the Fair Use Guidelines and Code of Conduct, we work closely with ecosystem members to uphold customer rights, informed consent, and ensure responsible data use. The governance model is dynamic, and we welcome feedback from industry leaders to strengthen it as the AA Ecosystem scales. We will discuss SBI’s feedback and input in these forums to introduce additional guardrails in the AA Ecosystem.
